Supporting Local Charities and Community Interest Corporations (C.I.C’s)
Mockford & Hunt are a small local business and it is important to us that we contribute to our community. We live locally with our families, our children attend local schools and we value everything that Ashford has to offer.
We sponsor a small selection of chosen charities/ community interest companies that we feel represent different aspects of the community and would benefit from working with us. We hope that you agree that by giving something back, we really do care. For us, it's always been more than a job.
By giving our sellers the opportunity to choose which preferred charity or C.I.C that we donate to, it ensures that the contribution will benefit a cause close to your heart and it hopefully reinforces that our service is all about you.
Mockford & Hunt Community Initiatives
We like to be hands on where we can having initiated and led local Ashford community projects as we enjoy being involved within the community itself with the aim to making a difference.
Since we opened in 2020, we have arranged two charity music festivals and participated in the Amsterdam Marathon. In 2022, we set up and hosted our now ongoing Community Clean Up. In 2023, we collaborated with Repton Connect Community Centre / People’s Pantry and residents from the Holiday Inn to grow a kitchen garden, of which fresh fruit and vegetables was made available to support local families in the area.
Starting in 2024, we have helped volunteer on multiple occasions in the local soup kitchen/ food bank - Bright City Church in Ashford town centre, having helped to serve food, talk to the service users and occasionally help prepare meals in the kitchen. With the help of Perry Court Farm, we deliver surplus fruit and vegetables to the food bank once a week. The facility is a life line to so many people and without the many dedicated volunteers that run it and local businesses that help provide vital food supplies, it wouldn't be the success that it is now.
What we've done for our community
Every year, we give back to 6 local charities, all nominated by our sellers. In addition, we have arranged various fundraising events and sponsored schools in the advertising of events. Tim has even been known to make a yearly appearance as Father Christmas for local primary school Christmas fairs. This year, we are sponsoring 'Loft Fest' music festival weekend on 13th and 14th June 2025 at the Tickled Trout in Wye, all to raise funds for Repton Connect People's Pantry and the Kent Greyhound Rescue.
