My Work Experience With Mockford & Hunt

I have recently gained some work experience for 2 weeks at Mockford and Hunt. During this time, I have been able to observe the daily operations of a successful estate agency and everything that they do for their clients. In this post, I am going to share my perspective on what estate agency is truly like and what I have learned from them.

When I first arrived, I was shocked at how small the team was. I always pictured estate agencies to have huge offices with lots of people bustling around, but Mockford and Hunt were very different. Within a day I quickly realised that this was for the best. The team work so well with each other and give each of their clients 100% of their care and attention which I struggle to believe other agencies can.

I also noticed how often the phones ring in a day! The agents don't have any time to sit and do nothing. The phone calls are either coming in or going out with the agents chasing up surveyors and updating clients. Even though the office was constantly busy, the team made me feel so welcome and took me in like I had been there for months already. Whilst I was completing the tasks I was given to help them out, I watched at how well these agents multi-task and how well they keep all the information for each property, sale and client separate in their heads.

I was quick to learn that one amazing thing Mockford and Hunt offer are personal WhatsApp groups. Each client gets their own group with the whole team and so they are given continual communication throughout the process which removes any worry during what can be a stressful period.

From showing properties to prospective buyers to negotiating offers and closing deals, there is never a quiet moment in the office. I saw first-hand how important attention to detail and organisation are to the success of estate agencies and how intent the team are to making sure the process runs as smoothly as possible for everyone involved.

As well as selling houses and supporting clients, Mockford and Hunt also do all their marketing and advertisement in-house. Learning how they run their business and how they successfully market themselves to gain more attraction from buyers is something I found very impressive as everything is authentic and personal to the team.

I have learnt that estate agents put all their effort into their clients to create a level of trust and communication throughout the process and really do strive to make the process as nice as possible for everyone involved. They work really hard to get the best offers for their sellers as well as protecting the interests of their buyers, and have close, professional relationships with all their clients.

All in all, I have really enjoyed my time here and have found it incredibly insightful to learn just how much goes into an estate agents' daily operation. I'm back to uni now to finish my course but this experience has given me a a good perspective into the industry and it's certainly something that I could see myself doing in the future.
